Thiel's monopoly theory has been discussed here before, and in some ways, it seems to hold water. Companies that truly grow are those able to create a competitive moat (technology, excellent product, etc.) so wide that they acquire a monopolistic position. That is, until they realize a new David is coming and they meet the fate of all Goliaths.
